Rocket ships aplenty... Rockets such as the one at left and those in the distance facilitate the orbital activity which is conducted by earthlings as envisioned in 1964's, Beyond the Solar System.
At right is a large deep-space craft being prepared. The idea of constructing large scale equipment like this in space itself repeats again and again in the Ley / Von Braun / Bonestell works. Further, the idea of using resources found on NEOs and even on the Moon is now back on the table, being weighed favorably in NASA's new vision of 2010. In this vision, Buzz Aldrin, Edgar Mitchell and others have more to say.
Finally, in the original view, with the Gulf of Mexico and Central America here as a backdrop, we get the feeling of fascination by those early space artists who did not yet have the famous pictures taken on the Apollo missions. |
