Sergei Prokofiev was the great composer of the Soviet era. His scores were in the Social Realist style,

which had a merit of its own, and when infused with the righteous indignation of national feeling and angst,

made for something to be hold. Arise Ye Russian People was a call to arms. Unfortunately all Social Realist

art was done under the direction of a regime that killed millions, and a black cloud hangs over it for that reason.

This is not necessarily the artist's fault, they would have produced beautiful music in another medium in all likelihood,

and one cannot be held accountable for the crimes of their government. Prokofiev celebrated the Russian people.
